OUR WALL OF EDUCATION

THE HISTORY BEHIND “OUR WALL OF EDUCATION”

Union School is an educational institution. And, as such, it is not engaged in any form of commercial advertising. This being said, we will nevertheless acknowledge that a group of former students, aware of the financial needs of the school, and, in a move to show their gratitude to the school for its contribution in their life, has decided to help out in making the “Union School Alumni Association (USAA)” an efficient and educational working tool.

In that sense, during the academic year 2005 – 2006, at a time when the school was striving to simply survive through the chronic socio-economic crisis in Haiti , the current dynamic USAA executive committee had initiated a number of fund-raising activities.

Even though businessmen/women in the Haitian community saw red in almost all economic indexes due to the prevalent crisis back then, they were willing to respond and to help out when contacted by the USAA committee. They graciously donated over U$100,000 (One hundred thousand U$) and continue to help since then. They understand the weight of the words “Education For All.”

The school felt and is still feeling very grateful toward those courageous people (some of whom donated anonymously – out of modesty). The school, in turn, thinks that the least it can do to show appreciation and gratitude, is to honor these individuals by granting some space to their business both through its physical and virtual facilities. That is the history behind “Our Wall Of Education” of which a physical look is shown below along with an acknowledgements list.
