No one was
left indifferent by these words. They expressed what we as a school
recognized to be of importance to us. The character development of
students is crucial and is in harmony with our mission of preparing
future leaders and responsible citizens of our global community. To
further impact our population with our aim, we took advantage of our
center court pillars which lend themselves so well to the display of
the essential core values we have elected to infuse in our students.
The core
values are printed boldly on each pillar. They are
Respect, Honesty, Self-Discipline, Friendship, Citizenship,
Fairness, Empathy, Courage, and Perseverance. We will
highlight one value per month. Each value is to be incorporated in
our lessons, projects, and assemblies. We ask that our staff and
parents model these values to our students and that they in turn
show through their attitudes that they too recognize these to be of
importance.
School
improvement continues to be a pivotal focal point for us. We
continually reassess our school wide curriculum to provide our
teachers with the necessary training in order to stay current.
Several teachers traveled last December to participate in a
conference on Curriculum Development. Our staff has ably taken on
the task of tailoring our curriculum to meet the needs of our
diverse student population.
We
anticipate a rewarding school year and are already formulating goals
for 2006-2007.
